ABOUT US
Our Story
Medropes was envisioned as a platform to give the healthcare community of Pakistan a voice. Over the last two decades, a growing number of medical graduates and young physicians in Pakistan have chosen to pursue their careers abroad, drawn away by better training, resources, and opportunities. That steady outflow has left a quiet but consequential gap at home — not only in the number of doctors available to serve local communities, but in the flow of clear, trustworthy health information reaching the public. Medropes exists to help close that gap: to build a space where the country’s medical talent, whether at home or scattered across the world, can come together to inform, educate, and advocate for a healthier Pakistan.
Where Our Name Comes From
The name Medropes is a blend of “medicine” and the familiar idiom “show someone the ropes.” It reflects exactly what we set out to do: take the knowledge and experience of the medical community and use it to teach the general population about health issues in a way that is clear, practical, and grounded in evidence.
What You’ll Find on Medropes
Medropes is organized around five categories, each built to serve a different part of our mission — from keeping professionals informed to giving the public a reliable source of health information they can trust.
News — Coverage of new and upcoming advances in medical science, along with healthcare community updates and developments from within Pakistan, keeping readers current on what’s changing in the field.
Articles — In-depth pieces grounded in available research evidence, written to keep Pakistan’s healthcare community up to date with the latest findings and best practices.
Bridge the Gap — A direct response to the misinformation that spread rapidly across social media during the COVID-19 pandemic. This category is dedicated to connecting the public with evidence-based knowledge, countering the flood of unfounded claims with information that has a real basis in science.
Survey — Original research and data collection focused on Pakistan’s healthcare landscape. We believe lasting change in healthcare policy has to be grounded in evidence, so we conduct and publish surveys that can be used to advocate for meaningful policy reform.
Opinions — A platform for medical students and young physicians to write about the challenges they face in the field and the solutions they believe could strengthen Pakistan’s healthcare community, told from the perspective of the people living it.
Our Vision
We believe that a stronger healthcare system starts with a well-informed public and a connected medical community. By bringing news, research, honest conversation, and hard data together in one place, Medropes aims to be a lasting resource for anyone who cares about the future of healthcare in Pakistan — whether they’re a physician, a student, or simply someone looking for health information they can trust.
